About
About Lahpet Voices.
Lahpet Voices is a community archive of stories from Burmese people in Singapore. Founded in 2021.
Why we exist
Why we exist.
Since the 2021 coup, conflict and economic collapse have displaced millions. Many students and workers have left to seek safety and opportunity abroad.
Inside Myanmar, fear has silenced many. People who leave keep the culture alive and support those who stay.
Lahpet Voices exists to hold space for those stories. It's a digital archive of memory and culture.
A note on how this is made
A small, human site.
This website is put together by hand, by a small circle of the people whose stories appear on it. There is no big platform behind it, no template we bought, no team of designers — just a few of us, a pot of tea, and a laptop on a kitchen table in Singapore.
Every page is written in our own words and checked by the people it's about before it goes up. We are not trying to be polished. We would rather be real.
